how neurons connect

Lesson 1 – We started the lesson by recapping the features of science, then you completed an examination question under timed conditions.

Science uses the empirical method, it is OBJECTIVE,  theories are testable and therefore FALSIFIABLE and research should be REPLICABLE.

You were given the double bubble sheet – this is to help you plan comparison essays. It is always better to plan in advance as it makes writing the essay so much easier. The Venn diagram helps you work out the similarities and and the differences.

Lesson 2  – We started to recap the biological approach from 6.1. We revisited the CNS and PNS, you drew neurons and synapses, we acted out neurotransmission and you made brain caps to learn about the lobes of the brain. The power point I used, together with the films and lesson materials can be found in the bio folder in your shared area.

Take the time to work through the materials again if you are unsure of anything we covered.

Ensure you have also revised the endocrine system and the flight, fight, flee or freeze response – there was no time to cover this again in class.

    You need to learn the key terms – there will be a glossary test after 1/2 term.

Lesson 3  – We developed our understanding of the localisation and Lateralisation of the brain. You made an edible brain and we sang a song to help us learn about some of the key areas of the brain.

Prep: Complete the worksheet used to construct the edible brain. I will take it in next Tuesday.
